  Post 16

Drumragh Integrated College launched its Sixth Form provision in September 2000 with 36 students. We now have over 100 students in our Sixth Form studying a diverse range of subjects. In addition to a high proportion of our own students staying on to complete AS and A-level courses, we also have a number of students from other local schools who choose to continue their education here after GCSE.

As we are a relatively new Sixth Form we have been able to offer new and innovative courses not offered in more established Sixth Forms. In September 2006, for example, we launched a new AS and A-level course in Moving Image. We always aim to respond to student demand and in addition to the extensive range of subjects offered in the College, we also work with Omagh College to enable students to avail of more vocationally-orientated courses, including A-Levels in Construction and Childcare.

Sixth Form

Most students join us in September, but we accept students throughout the year. Our view is that students of this age require an approach which takes account of their maturity but which at the same time recognises the need for support in this transitional phase of their education. There is a strong emphasis on allowing students the independence they expect whilst providing caring pastoral support and close monitoring of academic progress.

The Sixth Form facilities include a supervised study room, a common room, a careers suite, a dedicated ICT room and private study rooms for Year 14 students.

Each year, two students are selected from Year 14 to represent the College as Head Boy and Head Girl. Sixteen other students are given the opportunity to assume the role of Senior Prefect. These Prefects are each assigned to a form class from years 8-12 to co-ordinate Student Council representatives and provide a supporting role to each student in their form class.

A separate booklet for prospective Sixth Form students is available with more detailed information on our Sixth Form provision.
