Charity and OutreachDrumragh Integrated College is committed to encouraging a culture of community spirit and generosity among its pupils. Students participate in a wide variety of charity work throughout the year and funds are used to support work in the local and global community. As a college, we are proud of the number of charity activities initiated and organised by our students.
A group of our Sixth Form students was accompanied by member of our teaching staff, Mr Damian Connolly, to Ethiopia in July 2010. In conjunction with the Projects Abroad organisation, students raised in excess of £16,000 to fund the trip, help an orphanage and support the education of others. Trips like this are now an annual event.
Students participated in a non-uniform day and organised raffles and a range of fun activities to raise funds for this annual charity event.
In addition to enjoying the pleasure of reading, Key Stage 3 students’ sponsorship goes to support the work of a local children’s cancer charity.
The enrichment programme offered as part of the year 13 Curriculum is an opportunity for students to use their skills to benefit others, including residents of local nursing homes.
Each Form Class donates a hamper of non-perishable food items to local charities, including St Vincent De Paul, for distribution to families within the Omagh Community.
This year students filled over one hundred shoe boxes with gifts suitable for children. The gifts are for distribution to children in poor circumstances than our own. |
