MATILDA JR MAGIC

The Crevenagh Road was filled with the spirit of rebellion when Drumragh Integrated College presented Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical JR. Based on the beloved book Matilda by Roald Dahl and adapted from the award-winning full-length musical, Matilda The Musical JR. told the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dared to take a stand and change her own destiny.

The production was staged in the College Assembly Hall on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th December at 7 PM.

Matilda, played by Year 9 students Farrah Loughrey and Lila McManus, was a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers who lived with cruel parents that considered her a nuisance, a “lousy little worm,” and a bore. When Matilda entered her first term at school, she captured the attention of Miss Honey - portrayed by Megan Harris in Year 13 - a kind teacher with whom she formed a wonderful friendship.

Unfortunately, the school was ruled by a tempestuous and mean headmistress named Miss Trunchbull, played by the talented Year 13 Ellie McGuigan, who hated children and delivered cruel and unjust punishments to all her charges. Matilda was determined to change her story, but would her cleverness and courage be enough to withstand the reign of Miss Trunchbull?

A cast of over fifty students had rehearsed tirelessly to bring the Matilda magic to the stage and were thrilled to entertain audiences during the show run.
